The tour

One week in one house.

Five moments from a household's week with Arki, in order: what somebody said, what the assistant answered, and what made that answer likely. The household is invented, nobody's real one. Every exchange was captured from a real run: the assistant's answers were written from Arki's own replies, which are one tap away under each one.

The week, planned in one talk

we're low on coffee

Coffee is on the shopping list.

What Arki did

Added [grocery 3] Coffee to the grocery list.
shall we do the weekly, what have we got next week

Next week:
- Mon: chicken casserole
- Tue: mince sauce and potatoes
- Wed: salmon soup, 4 servings (has a recipe)
- Thu: spinach pancakes with lingonberry jam
- Sun lunch: meatballs and mash

Tasks: the water bill Mon, the library books Tue (flagged), the ferry booking Sun (Autumn trip to Tallinn).

The shopping list has 7 lines. The casserole, the mince sauce, the pancakes and the meatballs have no recipe, so their ingredients don't reach the list.

What makes this workOne read brings the whole week back at once: the dinners by name, the tasks due, the things to buy, and which dishes still need a recipe before they can be shopped for. Every row carries its id, so when the person answers “swap Monday and Tuesday”, the change lands on exactly those rows. Coffee, said in passing a moment earlier, was already on the list before the week was read.

find winter boots for Eetu in size 35, compare a few prices and save it as a note

I searched the web (my own search, not Arki's) and saved the comparison as the note “Winter boots for Eetu, size 35”:
- Northstar Shoes: fleece-lined, waterproof, 69 €
- Kidswear Outlet: the same pair Helmi had last year, 54 €
- Sports Hall: membrane winter trainers, 89 €

It went into Purchases as a best guess; Kids would fit too (Sports gear, Eetu's football). Which one?

What Arki did

capture_household_tool(text="Price comparison 7 Sep 2026 (the assistant's web search;…, title="Winter boots for Eetu, size 35", kind="note", tags=["purchases", "shoes"], scope="household")

Saved [entry 24]: note — "Winter boots for Eetu, size 35". Shared with the household.
How sure: close call (two folders fit about equally).
Filed inside "Purchases" as a best guess. Places that fit:
- "Purchases" [entry 7]: "New vacuum cleaner – comparison", "A bike for Helmi"
- "Kids" [entry 4]: "Sports gear", "Eetu's football", "Helmi's swimming lessons"
Now that it is saved, ask the person ONE question offering these places; then move the note itself (not its text) with update_household_entry_tool(entry_id=<id>, parent=<id or vault folder path>).

Purchases

It stays in Purchases.

Captured from a real run on 12 Oct 2026: the person's line, the assistant's answer, and under “What Arki did” the tool's own reply, as the server sent it.

What makes this workA fact said in passing is a note the whole household can find, and the reply says where it went. A question gets a search over words, not meaning: the note about the boots comes back whole, sizes and photo included, so the answer can say what there is and what there isn't. The assistant's own web search makes the comparison; Arki saves it, ranks the folders where similar notes already live, and asks one question only when the fit is unclear.

move the water bill to tomorrow

The water bill is moved to tomorrow, Tue 8 Sep.

[task 1] open — "Pay the water bill" [tomorrow] — unowned — due Tue 2026-09-08 — shared with the household — updated: due_on, plan.

Captured from a real run on 12 Oct 2026: the person's line, the assistant's answer, and under “What Arki did” the tool's own reply, as the server sent it.

The Tasks page on a phone, Plan view, scrolled down: the tasks that live in the autumn-jobs note and the trip note, each with its date, and under Later the dentist, which starts on 1 November
The Plan page the same evening, further down: the tasks that live in notes (the autumn jobs, the trip), and under Later the dentist, waiting for November with no red date. Today and This week, above, are your picks, not the app's.

What makes this workA task costs one sentence and lands with its date, unowned, shared with the house. The evening question reads the whole list once, with every task's id, and the move to tomorrow changes that one task and nothing else. The Plan page is the same rows: what was picked for today and for this week, and under Later the dentist, which starts in November and stays out of the way until then.

Tuesday

The plan changes, and the house knows

we made far too much, push Wednesday and Thursday forward a day

Pushed forward a day: salmon soup to Thursday 10 Sep, spinach pancakes to Friday 11 Sep.

What Arki did

shift_plan_range_tool(start_date="2026-09-09", end_date="2026-09-10", shift_days=1)

Shifted 2 planned meals forward by 1 day:
  2026-09-09 dinner -> 2026-09-10: Salmon soup [plan 3]
2026-09-10 dinner -> 2026-09-11: Spinach pancakes with lingonberry jam [plan 4]
move Thursday's salmon soup to Saturday, we're at grandma's on Thursday

Salmon soup moved to Saturday 12 Sep. Thursday is now empty.

What Arki did

update_meal_plan_entry_tool(entry_id=3, date="2026-09-12")

Updated meal plan entry 3: now dinner on 2026-09-12.

Captured from a real run on 12 Oct 2026: the person's line, the assistant's answer, and under “What Arki did” the tool's own reply, as the server sent it.

The week's meal plan on a phone, Wednesday to Sunday: nothing on Wednesday or Thursday, spinach pancakes on Friday, salmon soup on Saturday, four portions each
The meal plan after both changes: Thursday is free, and the salmon soup has moved to Saturday.

What makes this workTwo sentences: the leftovers push two dinners forward a day, keeping their order; then one dinner moves to Saturday by its id. Nothing retyped, nothing deleted, and the week page shows the result to whoever opens it.

Friday

The list writes itself

what do we need to buy

To buy (6), in shop order: dill 20 g and potatoes 800 g, salmon fillet 500 g, coffee, cooking cream 200 g, detergent. The milk is already bought.

The spinach pancakes (Fri) and the meatballs (Sun) have no recipe, so their ingredients are not on the list.

What Arki did

Grocery list for 2026-09-11 to 2026-09-14

Needed (6), in The corner shop's walking order:

[grocery 5] Dill — 20 g (from the meal plan)
[grocery 6] Potatoes — 800 g (from the meal plan)
-- Meat, chicken, fish and sausages --
[grocery 7] Salmon fillet — 500 g (from the meal plan)
-- Dry goods: rice, pasta, canned food --
[grocery 3] Coffee (added by hand)

[grocery 4] Cooking cream, 15 % — 200 g (from the meal plan)
-- Hygiene and cleaning --
[grocery 1] Detergent (added by hand)

Already bought (1):
[grocery 2] Milk (added by hand)

No recipe yet, so nothing on the list comes from these (2):
[plan 4] Spinach pancakes with lingonberry jam — dinner, 2026-09-11
[plan 5] Meatballs and mash — lunch, 2026-09-13
Tell the person, and offer to attach a recipe (a food only if they buy the dish ready-made). Change the plan only once they say which.

Captured from a real run on 12 Oct 2026: the person's line, the assistant's answer, and under “What Arki did” the tool's own reply, as the server sent it.

The shopping list on a phone: coffee and detergent added by hand, salmon fillet, potatoes, cooking cream and dill from the week's recipe, then two dishes still without a recipe
Friday's list, worked out from the plan: the soup's ingredients and the coffee said in passing, but not the onion already at home.

What makes this workSunday's plan became Friday's list: the salmon soup's ingredients from its recipe, coffee and detergent said in passing, the milk already bought but still shown, the onion at home left off, and two dishes named as still waiting on a recipe rather than quietly dropped.

If you also track your own food

Nothing in this week needed a calorie. For whoever wants it, the same chat also logs what one person ate, against Fineli's Finnish foods, with a daily target; switched off, there is no diary, no target and no budget for that person.
